Convention Chair for IBS 2017 is Michigan’s Own Ann Garvey

The highlight of my professional year is always the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS). In fact, I’ve been attending every year since 1989! The 2017 show promises to be one of the best ever, with outstanding education, great networking opportunities and the best exhibition of residential construction products and services in North America.

IBS 2017 takes place Jan. 10 through 12 in Orlando, Fla. and will kick off NAHB’s 75th Anniversary celebration.

Keynote speaker, Peyton Manning, quarterback of the 2016 Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos will get our show started at the Opening Ceremonies on Tuesday, January 10.

Tuesday evening boasts another must-attend event –the Official IBS House Party. Open to all attendees and exhibitors, it will be held at Mango’s Tropical Café, just a short hop from the Convention Center. You can purchase tickets when you register for IBS.

IBS Education is the go-to resource for builders and industry professionals who are serious about improving their skills and increasing their bottom line. Programming includes:

• More than 130 sessions in eight tracks covering design, sales and marketing, remodeling, high-performance building, business management and more;

• Five in-depth, advanced Master sessions;

• Builder Clinics featuring live demonstrations and hands-on learning;

• Tech Bytes sessions providing an opportunity to learn about and test social media platforms, virtual reality and video applications;

New this year is the NAHB Meeting of the Members on Wednesday from 8:00 to 9:30 a. m. Members will hear from NAHB CEO Jerry Howard and Chief Economist Rob Dietz, as well as featured speaker Barbara Corcoran, from TV’s Shark Tank. Registration is free, but the meeting is open only to NAHB members and their employees.

One of the highlights of every IBS is The New American Home®, and this year’s 13,000-square-foot home will not disappoint. New this year: A remodeled home. Both are a short shuttle ride from the Convention Center.

IBS will wrap up in style Thursday evening with a concert by award winning super star country music group Little Big Town. Tickets are available for purchase when you register for IBS, and qualified Spikes and Directors will receive complimentary tickets.

Also new this year is an opportunity that I am excited about. As an incentive, state HBAs can enjoy extra revenue through the IBS Attendance Challenge if more of their members attend IBS in 2017 than in 2016. I’d love for you to come join us to help Michigan beat last year’s numbers!
