Great Lakes Builders Show 2017 Focuses On BUILDING MOMENTUM!

Both days of GLBS 2017 will feature keynote luncheons designed to be informative and thought-provoking. Luncheons will be held from Noon to 1:30pm and the price to attend will be $40 per event.

On Wednesday, we have invited Michigan’s Lieutenant Governor, Brian Calley, to speak on the importance of workforce development in Michigan. It is a subject on which he is very passionate and it is also a subject which is crucial to the future of our industry. It is also a great follow-up to the Residential Construction Industry Job Fair that we will be holding earlier Wednesday morning (see “Employment” below).

On Thursday, we are featuring nationally-acclaimed –and highly entertaining –economist Elliott Eisenberg, Ph. D., as he keynotes the annual Economic Forecast luncheon. Dr. Eisenberg is the Chief Economist for GraphsandLaughs, LLC, an economic consulting firm that serves a variety of clients across the United States. He is a frequent speaker on topics including economic forecasts, economic impact of industries such as home building and tourism, consequences of government regulation, strategic business development and other current economic issues.

At GLBS 2016, we held our inaugural Job Fair with a goal to help bring companies in our industry together with job seekers. At that event, over 50 companies had tables and spent two hours meeting with nearly 100 job seekers. We have been pleased to hear that several job hires occurred from that event and the people hired are still employed at those firms nearly a year later.

In 2017, GLBS is applying “lessons learned” for our first job fair to hopefully attract at least 300 job seekers to our event on Wednesday, February 15th from 9am to 11am. The price to attend as a Job Seeker is FREE. For employers, the price for a table at the job fair is also FREE. If you are interested in reserving a table, please visit

We are also excited to announce that we will again be partnering with high school and college construction trade programs from across the state. At GLBS 2016, we had over 200 students from high school programs ranging from Charlevoix to Corunna to Livonia to Monroe, with several other schools as well. The feedback from the various instructors was very positive as our show helps their students realize that there is a future for them in this industry.

We know that many of our exhibitors and attendees coming to the show are staying overnight on Wednesday. For this reason, we have secured 100 tickets to see the NAB’s Detroit Pistons take on the perennial powerhouse Dallas Mavericks at The

Palace of Auburn Hills on Wednesday, February 15th. This is the last season for the Pistons at The Palace, so please take this opportunity to enjoy the game. The price to attend this special event is $40.
