GREAT LAKES BUILDERS SHOW 2018
TOOLS FOR SUCCESS

For those companies and attendees who were part of GLBS 2017, THANK YOU for making the third year of our show a huge success. Our February 2017 attendance was up over 14 percent with GLBS 2018 on-pace to be our best year ever.

Based on valuable feedback from sponsors, exhibitors and attendees alike, we have made some significant changes to help enhance the experience that will be GLBS 2018. Thanks to the convenience and layout of our venue at Suburban Collection Showplace & Diamond Center in Novi, we have made dramatic changes to our show floor, our classroom settings and our keynote dining opportunities.

Our theme for 2018 is a simple one: “Tools for Success.” It was selected with the goal of helping HBA of Michigan members further expand their knowledge and equip their businesses –including the people who work on your team –with the capabilities necessary to take advantage of Michigan’s growing economy.

GLBS 2018 Improvements

Since moving GLBS to Suburban Collection Showplace, we have tried a couple different floor plan configurations related to exhibitors, classrooms and dining/keynote presentations. Additionally, we basically maintained a traditional trade show schedule of primarily daytime events.

For 2018, we are making some changes suggested by GLBS 2017 participants:

Schedule –The event schedule for GLBS 2018 has been shortened to a day-and-a-half in order to offer exhibitors and attendees a better, more efficient use of their time commitment in attending the show. The first day of the show is Wednesday, starting at 4:00pm when the Exhibit Hall opens. The later starting time is meant to accommodate those builders and remodelers who want to attend GLBS but are only able to do so after working hours. An education session (see graphic) will also be offered starting at 4:15pm, for those who might be interested. The exhibit floor will remain open until 8:00pm and will include a Complimentary Strolling Dinner and Entertainment from 5:30pm until 7:30pm.

The second, and final day of GLBS is Thursday. It is jam-packed with activities, starting with HBA of Michigan’s annual Economic Forecast Breakfast, featuring the high-energy insights of Elliot Eisenberg, starting at 7:30am. As the accompanying “Schedule at a Glance” graphic shows, the day continues with a myriad of activities, including: four different 1-hour educational offerings, the 3rd annual GLBS Job Fair for the residential construction industry, the HBAM Legislative Update briefing and an inspirational Keynote Luncheon by Brent Gleeson, a former US Navy Seal, acclaimed author and national speaker on Building Your Own High-Performance Team.
