Local HBA Best Practice Spotlight Continued

As for teenagers, Lansing works with local high schools and arranges member visits each spring. Depending on the school, members get a chance to speak in a classroom or talk one on one with the students during lunch. They have all industry types (builders and subcontractors) on hand to engage with the students. The HBA also partners with the Wilson Talent Center (Ingham County CTE) to raise money for their programs.

At the post high school level, the HBA partners with the Lansing Community College in providing scholarships to students in the Construction Technology Program.

How do they pay for all this? In addition to golf outing fundraisers, the HBA of Lansing adds an additional $15 to each dues statement encouraging members to give to their Skilled Trades Fund. Over 80% of their members are now participating through this dues billing!
