In November It May Be Too Late…
VOTE in the August 7th Primary

2018is a HUGE election year in the state of Michigan. As the summer months heat up, so will campaigns around the state. In August, you will help narrow the race for Governor (voting for either a republican or democrat candidate in the primary). You will also most likely have a primary vote for a new state senator and state representative in your area.

As a result of term limits, on January 1, 2019 there will be a new Governor, new Lt. Governor, new Attorney General and a new Secretary of State. Joining them will be 42 (out of 110) new state Representatives (at a minimum) and 27 (out of 38) new state Senators (at a minimum).

In some parts of the state, the August primary IS THE ELECTION…because the districts lean heavily toward one party or the other. That is why Friends of Housing met on June 1st to assess ALL of the races, make endorsements, and in some cases, provide nominal financial support, to candidates running across the state.

The results from the August primary will set the stage for November. Just like building a house costs money, so does electing candidates who will be supportive of YOU and the residential construction industry. Your state association has had great success in recent years impacting policy changes that benefit our industry. We cannot afford to move backward and need to support those who support housing.

If you haven’t made your voluntary contribution to Friends of Housing in the amount of $100.00 (or more), please consider making a contribution today.
